MICHAEL COOPER

Michael Cooper has been an agent for almost 20 years and has spent that time building lasting relationships with families and business owners across the state of Nebraska.  Michael moved from Missouri to Nebraska in 1993 and graduated from Lincoln Southeast. To this day, Michael would tell you that moving and starting over his senior year is still one of the hardest things he’s ever done.

After high school Michael worked his way up the McDonalds ladder, but after 6 long years of working every weekend, he decided a change needed to be made. Michael got his start in sales at the Berry Company which sold yellow page advertising all over the country. He would tell you that the reason he’s been successful as an insurance agent is because of his time at the Berry Company since they spent many weeks helping him learn the importance of building relationships that were built on trust and not just trying to sell a yellow page ad.

After a few years with the Berry Company Michael launched his career in the insurance world opening his first agency with Farmers Insurance. After a few years in the captive environment Michael realized that to do what was best for his clients he needed to get out of the captive environment and become an independent agent. After working for an agent for a few years in 2018 Michael decided it was time to go on his own and that’s when Omega Insurance Group became what you see today.

Michael met his wife Lisa in 2005 and married a year later. They have 3 children, 2 sons and a daughter which takes up most of his free time as he watches his sons wrestle. Michael is a family guy first and one of the things his family really enjoys is attending the family reunion that takes place every 2 years. Michael and a couple of his cousins lead the charge in bringing 160 family members together for a full week and the reunion just celebrated it’s 50th anniversary. When not working or spending time with the family, Michael enjoys a round of golf (playing with the friends he made over 20 years ago at the Berry Company) or a game of pool with friends. On Sundays and Wednesdays, you will find Michael at his church where he serves as a youth leader.

Michael is currently a member of the National Associate of Insurance and Financial Advisors.  He currently serves on the State Board as immediate past president and has held many titles over his 18 years serving his professional association. Michael graduated from the Leadership in Life Institute in 2014 and has since gone on to moderate subsequent classes. Michael was awarded the OR Frey award in 2025. This prestigious honor is given to a member who had dedicated themselves to NAIFA and serving its members.
